“ | Wha- What a shocking ending!! Sniper agent Amatori demolishes the whole building with her Ibis!! Is she allowed to be that powerful?! | ” |
–Sakurako Taketomi about Chika Amatori, in Tamakoma Second.[1] |
Sakurako Taketomi (武富 桜子, Taketomi Sakurako ?) is the Operator of Ebina Unit.
Appearance
Taketomi is a young girl with brown hair, tied into two ponytails on the back of her head, and blue eyes. She wears a headset. While on duty, she wears a standard Operator uniform, whereas off duty she is seen wearing a white t-shirt under a purple hooded sweater.[3]
Personality
Taketomi is cheerful, energetic and enthusiastic about her role as a commentator. She speaks with confidence, a trait which allowed her to make a case for the introduction of color commentary in rank battles to Border's top brass.[4] She takes professional pride in her overreactions. She has such a deep passion for color commentary that she privately records and conserves the audio files, grinning happily as she listens to them in her private room in HQ.[5]
Plot
Background
Taketomi joined Border approximately two years before Yūma Kuga and Chika Amatori.[6] Even as a C-rank, Taketomi made presentations to Engineers and management to convince them to implement commentary during team rank battles, leading to the current system. Her efforts resulted in the average tactical level of Border being increased.[4] She did not make B-rank until eight months before Tamakoma Second's match against Arafune Unit and Suwa Unit at the earliest.[7]
B-Rank Rank Battles Arc
Taketomi serves as the host for Tamakoma Second's first rank battle, commenting with Ken Satori and Osamu Mikumo. She is astonished by Yūma's skills and even more by Chika's tremendously powerful Ibis.[8] She returns to do the play-by-play for their following match alongside Haruaki Azuma and Shun Midorikawa. She is perplexed by Tamakoma Second's stage of choice, which favors Snipers, until Azuma explains that Osamu wanted to create a natural alliance with Suwa Unit against Arafune Unit.[9] During the rest of the match she provides recaps and focuses on the highlights while leaving the more tactical commentary to Azuma and Midorikawa.[9][10][11][12] She maintains the same commentary style during Tamakoma Second's fifth match.[13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] Before it begins, she shares with her co-commentators Kōhei Izumi and Mitsuru Tokieda that she is excited because that morning her unit moved to the middle tier of B-rank for the first time. The three then discuss the recent defeats of the three units.[21] After the round end she invites Izumi and Tokieda to discuss the new key to Tamakoma's success, which they identify as Osamu's wire strategy, before moving on to the other units.[22]
On the night of March 5,[23] Taketomi hosts Tamakoma Second's match against Ninomiya Unit, Ikoma Unit and Yuba Unit. She starts off by introducing her fellow commentators: Kirie Konami, Kazuaki Ōji and Kazuki Kurauchi, then reviews the results of Ōji Unit's match earlier that day with them. The commentators share and discuss their predictions for the upcoming battle.[24] When the match starts, Taketomi commentates on the fighters' spawn positions and on Masataka Ninomiya's Salamander bombardment.[25]
Abilities
Though Taketomi's skills as an Operator are unknown, through her commentaries she has proven to possess a degree of strategic proficiency and analytical skills.
