“ | A lightweight blade speed-oriented Attackers use often: Scorpion. | ” |
–Shiori Usami about Scorpion, in Arashiyama Unit 2. |
The Scorpion (スコーピオン, Sukōpion ?) is a Normal Trigger that was created by Yūichi Jin to be Kogetsu's rival.
Description
The Scorpion is a bright yellow edged weapon that appears as a dagger of sorts. It can be shapeshifted at will. There are many variants in the default shape: Jin and Kuga use a single-edged Scorpion, the members of Kazama Unit wield Scorpions with a hollowed blade and Ai Kitora a version that has a blade at both ends of the handle.
Overview
Of the three Attacker Triggers currently available to all Border agents, the Scorpion was the second to be created. The Scorpion was developed by Jin together with Border's engineers when he realized he would not be able to win against Tachikawa with the Kogetsu.
Abilities
The Scorpion has an offensive power comparable to the Kogetsu, but has much lower durability, which causes it to crack and break if it clashes multiple times. It is capable of shapeshifting into anything the user desire and its ability to change its shape is determined by the user's own skills and trion level. Someone with very high trion level would be able to shape it into a fullbody armor. Kageura and Kuga, the latter to a lesser extent, have demonstrated the ability to mould, extend and contract Scorpion quickly much like a whip, and so they are capable of using effectively in mid-range combat as well. Depending on the type, its abilities can differ slightly. The standard version is focused on balance, while Kazama Unit's is more focused on offense. Kitora's Scorpion is customized, being double-bladed. It can also be used to cover wounds on the trion body to prevent trion leakage, first demonstrated by Kuga on page.
Techniques
Name | Description | |
---|---|---|
Mole Claw (もぐら爪, Mōrukurō ?) | The user produces a blade under his/her foot and drives it into a surface, then changes it shape to make it come out at the desired location for a surprise attack. | |
Leg Blade (脚ブレード, Ashi Burēdo ?) | The User covers or replaces a portion of his/her leg with Scorpion and turns it into a blade.[1] It was first used by Kitora to replace her missing leg.[2] | |
Branch Blade (枝刃, Buranchi Burēdo ?) | The user splits Scorpion in multiple blades inside his/her body and sprouts them from different locations. | |
Mantis (マンティス, Mantisu ?) | The user extends the Scorpion's range by combining two Scorpions together. It was a powerful technique thought up by Kageura.[3] |

Currently, there are 16 known official agents with at least one Scorpion in their Trigger set.[4] The list excludes those members of branches who do not participate in Rank Battles.[5] Hyuse has used it briefly during the Galopoula incursion.[6] The Scorpion user with the most Solo Usage Points is Sōya Kazama, the no. 2 Attacker and no. 3 solo combatant. Yōsuke Yoneya is a notable former user.[7]
