A lightweight blade speed-oriented Attackers often use: The Scorpion.

Shiori Usami about the Scorpion, in Arashiyama Unit 2.

The Scorpion (スコーピオン, Sukōpion ?) is a Normal Trigger that was created by Yūichi Jin to be Kogetsu's rival.

Description

The Scorpion is an bright yellow edged weapon that appears as a dagger of sorts. It can be shapeshifted at will. There are many variants in the default shape: Jin and Kuga use a single-edged Scorpion, the members of Kazama Unit wield Scorpions with a hollowed blade and Ai Kitora a version that has a blade at both ends of the handle.

Overview

Of the three Attacker Triggers currently available to all Border agents, the Scorpion was the second to be created. The Scorpion was developed by Jin together with Border's engineers when he realized he would not be able to win against Tachikawa with the Kogetsu.

Abilities

The Scorpion has an offensive power comparable to the Kogetsu, but has much lower durability, which causes it to crack and break if it clashes multiple times. It is capable of shapeshifting into anything the user desire and its ability to change its shape is determined by the user's own skills and trion level. Someone with very high trion level would be able to shape it into a fullbody armor. Kageura and Kuga, the latter to a lesser extent, have demonstrated the ability to mould, extend and contract Scorpion quickly much like a whip, and so they are capable of using effectively in mid-range combat as well. Depending on the type, its abilities can differ slightly. The standard version is focused on balance, while Kazama Unit's is more focused on offense. Kitora's Scorpion is customized, being double-bladed. It can also be used to cover wounds on the trion body to prevent trion leakage, first demonstrated by Kuga on page.

Techniques

Name Descriptions[1]
Moiytvhkftdhgvm, klhkg Mole Claw (もぐら爪(モールクロー), Mōrukurō ?) The user produces a blade under his/her foot and drives it into a surface, then changes it shape to make it come out at the desired location for a surprise attack.
Leg bladebhg Leg Blade ((あし)ブレード, Ashi Burēdo ?) The User covers or replaces a portion of his/her leg with Scorpion and turns it into a blade.[2] It was first used by Kitora to replace her missing leg.[3]
Branched Blade Branch Blade (枝刃(ブランチブレード), Buranchi Burēdo ?) The user splits Scorpion in multiple blades inside his/her body and sprouts them from different locations.
Kageura Scorpion Mantis (マンティス, Mantisu ?) The user extends the Scorpion's range by combining two Scorpions together. It was a powerful technique thought up by Kageura.[4]

A-Rank
Sōya Kazama
Kazama vs Jin no watermark

Kazama is the agent who has scored the most points with Scorpion. The model used by his Squad is slightly different from the standard, as it has a hollowed blade and stretches reach, being even more offense-oriented. Combining the lightness and shapeshifting ability of the blade with his natural agility, Kazama can strike from any position, using acrobatic maneuvers to move around his opponent. When fighting with his Squad or using Chameleon, Kazama mainly resort to hit-and-run tactics, but he is fully capable of rivaling Border's best Attackers in swordsmanship. His skill is such that he was able to cut down all of Mikumo's slow-moving Asteroid bullets around him and deflect Rata's Despinis. Kazama normally wields two at the same time, but he is also adept at using just one, either with a normal or a reverse grip, or by turning it into a blade sticking from his forearm. He can also move it through his body before suddenly ejecting it for a surprise attack, even from under his foot when his position requires so.[5]

Mole Claw (モルクロー, Moru Kurō ?): Kazama is well-known for his use of this technique, which consists in driving Scorpion into the ground by making it come out from the underside of their foot, subsequently bending its blade so that, in emerging, it pierces through the opponent's foot, or another body part within reach, damaging the target and anchoring them in place.

Ryō Utagawa
Utagawa Scorpion

Utagawa is a skilled Scorpion user. The model used by his Squad is slightly different from the standard, as it has a hollowed blade and stretches reach, being even more offense-oriented. As a speed-type Attacker, he generally dual-wields it for brief, fast-paced assaults, especially in conjunction with Chameleon, but can also fight with a single one. He is capable of changing its shape, turning it into a weapon with two shorter, curved blades.
Shirō Kikuchihara
Kikuchihara Scorpion

Kikuchihara is a skilled Scorpion user. The model used by his Squad is slightly different from the standard, as it has a hollowed blade and stretches reach, being even more offense-oriented. As a speed-type Attacker, he generally dual-wields it for brief, fast-paced assaults, especially in conjunction with Chameleon.
Shun Midorikawa
Midorikawa Scorpion

Midorikawa has reached Master Class with this Trigger and is regarded as a skilled user. His fighting style revolves around his agility. Since he often activates Grasshopper in combat, he generally uses only one Scorpion, but can also fight with two. He is capable of morphing it into a blade which extends outwards from his wrist. He was able to intercept Alektor's bullets.
Jun Arashiyama
Arashiyama Scorpion

As an All-Rounder, Arashiyama has scored at leat 6000 points with Scorpion, which is his weapon of choice at close quarters.
Ai Kitora
Kitora Scorpion

Due to her not having enough trion to fight solely as a Gunner, Kitora learned how to utilize Scorpion, which she uses in melee and to cut through the durable armor of certain types of Trion Soldiers. Her model is customized, its default shape having two blades instead of one and the ability to spin around the handle.

Leg Blade ((あし)ブレード, Ashi Burēdo ?): By covering her foot and part of her leg with Scorpion, Kitora can cut through the target with a kick. Aside from allowing her to attack from more positions, this technique can restore her normal mobility should she lose a leg by replacing it with the blade.

Mitsuru Tokieda
Tokieda Scorpion

As an All-Rounder, Tokieda has scored at least 6000 points with Scorpion, which is his weapon of choice at close quarters. He wields it with a reverse grip. Coordinating with Arashiyama, he was able to take down a Marmod with a single slash, thrusting the blade deep into its head and then slicing it open.
Nozomi Kako
Yūichi Jin
Jin Scorpion

Scorpion was developed by Jin with the help of Border's engineers. It allowed him to finally be Tachikawa's equal in swordsmanship as well as to swiftly defeat all Fūjin candidates. Jin's basic fighting style sees him wielding two Scorpions, quickly stepping in range and attacking.[6] Thus far, he has never used any of Scorpion's special abilities, simply wielding it like a dagger. By enabling him to dodge instead of blocking, his Side Effect allows Jin to compensate for the low durability of the Trigger. In the anime, it was shown that he was able to swing quickly enough to deflect bullets one-by-one.
B-Rank
Sumiharu Inukai
Inukai Scorpion

Not much is known about his skill level with Scorpion as his singular usage is to cut off his arm that was hit by Chika's Lead Bullet.[7] It's likely that he only uses it in emergencies due to that and having less than 6,000 points (as he has 6,000+ points with two Gunner Triggers, but isn't counted as an All-Rounder).[8] Inukai is first seen using this trigger in Chapter 194 (Episode 99 in the anime).
Yūma Kuga
Miura parries Yuma (Anime)

Yūma is not only extremely skilled with Scorpion, having managed to defeat the No. 3 and 4 Attackers a few times with it, he is also the most prolific user. Through emulation and sheer creativity, he managed to learn all the applications of this Trigger invented by other agents, as well as to develop a few of his own: he has shaped Scorpion like fins to control his movements in strong currents[9] and to bandage a grievous wound in order to stop the initial trion leakage.[10] His combat prowess makes him superior even to most A-Rank agents, as shown by his ability to repeatedly best Midorikawa, another proficient Scorpion user. He primarily fights by dual-wielding it, quickly switching to Grasshopper or Shield when the need arises. His extraordinary agility, coupled with the lightness of the blade, allows him to land swift, critical attack before retreating just as quickly. He makes full use of Scorpion's ability to be drawn from any part of the body to strike from unexpected positions, increasing its efficacy by altering its shape. At close range, he can throw both Scorpions to finish off an opponent who has lost their balance, a tactic seemingly borrowed from Kageura. Despite his astounding variety of attacks, however, his control of Scorpion's finest techniques was noted to be still unrefined.

Mole Claw (もぐら爪(モールクロー), Mōrukurō ?): Yūma causes Scorpion to come out of his sole to attack when his position does not allow him to hit the opponent by wielding the Trigger with his hand. By using it when in contact with a wall, he can aim directly for the target's head.

Leg Blade ((あし)ブレード, Ashi Burēdo ?): Yūma covers his foot and part of his leg with Scorpion, allowing him to cut the enemy with a kick. It can be used to attack from unexpected positions as well as to intercept sword slashes.

Branch Blade (枝刃(ブランチブレード), Buranchi Burēdo ?): Yūma splits Scorpion in multiple blades inside his body and sprouts them from different locations,[11] either to attack from unexpected positions or to defend.

Mantis (マンティス, Mantisu ?): Yūma can combine two Scorpions to perform a mid-range attack similar to a whiplash. He is skilled enough to bend it after starting it in order to slip through the opponent's defenses and strike their vitals.

Masato Kageura
Kageura stakes Inukai

Kageura is undoubtedly one of Border's most skilled Scorpion users. With this Trigger, he outranked Kō Murakami prior to being demoted, and the latter, despite his prowess and Side Effect, still has more losses than victories against him. Kageura's swordplay was noted by Yūma Kuga to be remarkably fast. In their first confrontation, Kageura was able to superficially injure the latter and prevent him from running away for a long amount of time, while taking no damage himself despite being hindered by the snow and his opponent having Grasshopper. He generally fights at mid-range with Mantis, although he has also proven to be skilled at close range, where he can throw his Scorpions to brutally and swiftly finish off his opponent. He first uses it in chapter 109 (episode 67 in the anime).

Mantis (マンティス, Mantisu ?): Kageura combines two Scorpions together to perform a fast, mid-ranged attack similar to a whiplash. He created this technique himself.[4]

Kazuaki Ōji
OjiScorpion S2E12

Ōji primarily uses this Trigger for surprise attacks. He can swiftly inflict a critical strike after approaching the target undetected with Bagworm,[12] or extend his empty right hand and grab the opponent's neck before causing the blade to shoot out of his palm.[13] Against Yūma, he formed it into a blade that sprouted from his wrist.[14] Ōji is first seen using it in Chapter 153.
Yōko Katori
Katori Scorpion (anime)

Katori is quite skilled with Scorpion. She can extend a blade out of a limb to defend at various locations, which allows her to defend while shooting in close quarters combat,[15] but can also use it offensively.[16]
Shō Motegi
Hidetaka Kitazoe
Temporary/Former Users
Yōsuke Yoneya
Hyuse
Hyuse stabs Yotaro

Hyuse is very skilled with this Trigger. The first time he used it, he was able to alter its shape to such an extent that he was able to pierce Yōtarō's clothes without harming his body, bending the blade in such a way that it went around him.[17] He first used it in chapter 135.
